Find FCI Greenville Releases

To find someone released from FCI Greenville, use federal records rather than the Bond County sheriff or Illinois prison search. The Bureau of Prisons locator reports a federal Release Date and Location or status, but their meaning depends on whether the date is past or future and whether another custody or supervision term follows. Movement to a reentry center or home confinement may remain BOP custody. A true departure from BOP also may lead to supervised release or another authority. Accurate confirmation pairs the locator result with the federal judgment and the agency responsible for the next stage.

FCI Greenville Release Destinations

FCI Greenville and its adjacent satellite camp are federal facilities operated by the Bureau of Prisons. A person can leave the institution for direct community release, federal supervised release, a residential reentry center, home confinement, transfer to another BOP facility, transport on a writ, or delivery to another authority under a detainer. These paths do not all end federal custody in the same way.

A residential reentry center, often called an RRC or halfway house, and home confinement can be community-based placements while the person remains in BOP custody. “Community Corrections Management” in a locator Location field reflects administration of such placement, not incarceration in a BOP regional office. “In Transit” also does not establish release. A detainer can end the BOP segment while another sovereign immediately takes custody.

Confirm an FCI Greenville Release

Search the BOP Inmate Locator by register number when possible. A number avoids many name collisions. The name route accepts first, middle, and last name with optional age, race, and sex. Match the register number and identifiers before attributing a result. The public locator covers federal people incarcerated from 1982 to the present; earlier records may require the National Archives.

  1. Enter the BOP register number or a carefully matched name and identifiers.
  2. Record the displayed name, register number, Release Date, and Location or status together.
  3. Decide whether Release Date is future or past. A future date is projected and may change.
  4. For a past date, check whether no facility is listed and the status reads “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.”
  5. Read the federal judgment and docket for supervised release, later orders, or a detainer context.

The BOP explains that a past date with no facility establishes release from BOP on that date. It does not prove the person is free of state, local, or immigration custody. Nor does it end federal supervised release, which is a court-imposed community supervision term managed through U.S. Probation.

The official BOP locator shows the federal fields used for release confirmation.

Read Release Date and Location or status as a pair; neither field alone resolves transfer, projection, or later supervision.

FCI Greenville Federal Facility

The BOP facility page identifies FCI Greenville as a medium-security federal correctional institution with an adjacent minimum-security satellite camp. It is located at 100 U.S. Highway 40 in Greenville. Physical location in Bond County does not make it a county jail, an IDOC prison, or a place for ordinary local arrestees merely because their case began nearby.

Operator: Federal Bureau of Prisons

The facility page is useful for official institution contact and visiting information. Custody and release status, however, belongs in the nationwide locator. Institution staff should not be asked to interpret a Bond County Jail record, and the Bond sheriff cannot certify a BOP release. Use the operator that actually held the person.

The official FCI Greenville page confirms the complex and federal operator.

Two Greenville Release Search Systems

Research Section 19 highlights a distinctive local risk. Bond County Jail and FCI Greenville both use Greenville addresses, but the small sheriff jail and the federal prison complex have radically different records. A “Greenville inmate” search can point to either. The operator, court system, and custody number must be identified before a release conclusion is drawn.

A Bond booking number or county criminal case belongs with the sheriff and Bond Judici. A BOP register number belongs in the federal locator. If the record instead contains an IDOC number, use the Illinois Department of Corrections search, because no IDOC prison is located in Bond County. One system's negative result says nothing about the others. The Bond County Jail release route and the federal route should never be blended.

Operator first. Match sheriff, IDOC, BOP, or ICE custody before selecting a locator or describing a release.

FCI Greenville Release Date Meaning

A future BOP Release Date is projected. It can move as legal and administrative facts change, including recalculation of First Step Act credits. An “Unknown” date means the confinement term has not been determined in the locator, not that no release will occur. Do not convert an expected date into a claim that the person left FCI Greenville.

A past date plus no facility and “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” is retrospective evidence that BOP custody ended. Save the lookup date and exact status. Then examine the federal sentencing docket for supervised release. The BOP result does not display every condition or establish completion of the court's supervision term.

Projected release
A future BOP date that may be recalculated.
Supervised release
A federal court-ordered period in the community after imprisonment.
Detainer
A basis for another authority to receive the person when BOP custody ends.
Residential reentry center
A structured community placement that can remain part of BOP custody.

FCI Greenville Release Records

BOP's Notice of Release and Arrival form illustrates information federal release processing can record: release date and method, community transportation or detainer, supervision jurisdiction, proposed residence, and an obligation to report to supervision within 72 hours when applicable. It is evidence of the federal field structure, not a promise that every completed form is publicly available without review or redaction.

For an existing federal custody or release record, identify the person by name and register number, state a focused date range, name the document or fields sought, and request the preferred electronic format. The federal sentencing judgment and docket are separate court records. They establish the prison term and supervised-release term, while the BOP locator establishes the public custody status.

The locator's official record guide explains its date and status limits. For pre-1982 confinement, follow BOP's National Archives route with the name, birth information, race, and approximate imprisonment dates. Online absence should trigger an archive check, not a claim that no federal custody occurred.

ICE and USMS After FCI Greenville

A BOP detainer departure may lead to immigration, state, local, or other federal custody. The ICE Online Detainee Locator System accepts a nine-digit A-number with country of birth or a biographical search. ICE guidance says it covers current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days. That short window can confirm a recent ICE event, but absence after the window proves nothing.

Describe a handoff precisely: “released from BOP custody to ICE” is not the same as released to the community. ODLS confirms only ICE custody status. It does not replace the BOP record or federal judgment. No dedicated ICE detention center was found within Bond County, and FCI Greenville's federal operation does not by itself make it an ICE detention facility.

The U.S. Marshals Service holds federal prisoners through pretrial proceedings and transfer to BOP, but it does not provide a public released-prisoner locator comparable to BOP. Use the federal court docket and BOP where applicable. A narrow USMS FOIA request can seek an identifiable existing custody or disposition record. The agency need not answer questions or create a new document.

Supervision After FCI Greenville Release

Federal supervised release is not Illinois parole, IDOC mandatory supervised release, or Bond County probation. The federal judgment states whether supervised release follows the prison term and gives its duration and conditions. U.S. Probation administers that term under federal court authority. A past BOP release date therefore can coexist with active federal supervision.

Do not ask Bond County Probation to verify a federal term merely because the institution is in Bond County. Likewise, the Illinois Prisoner Review Board has no role in a federal supervised-release sentence. If another jurisdiction assumes custody on a detainer, the next agency's record must be checked separately from federal supervision.

The DOJ Victim Notification System is limited to enrolled federal crime victims using assigned credentials. It is not an open public locator and should not be substituted for Illinois VINE. For an open public release check, the BOP locator and federal court record remain the primary channels.

Missing FCI Greenville Release Results

A negative or unclear locator result can arise from spelling, aliases, a mismatched name, pre-1982 history, another correctional system, or a status that has not yet resolved. Search by register number if available and compare every identifier. A person “In Transit” remains within a custody movement; a CCM location is not proof of final BOP release.

Record the lookup time, exact query, Release Date, and Location or status. If the result shows a past date and released status, reconcile it with the federal docket. If it shows another facility or community-corrections placement, follow the current BOP status. When another authority received the person, use that agency's locator or record request. This event-based method states which custody ended without claiming that all custody or supervision ended.
